How to get to the venue

Emissions offset and travel by train

Bratislava is centrally located in Europe and fast train connections from across Europe exist to Vienna, which is only some 50 km away from Bratislava. We encourage all participants of the conference to investigate and consider possibilities to travel to Bratislava by train, minimising the carbon footprint caused by their travel.

To help the research, below find links that provide some information on options for traveling across Europe by train.

Should you decide to travel by air, you may wish to consider offsetting travel-related emissions through donations to solar, biomass, or energy-efficiency projects.

Within the registration for the conference you will have the option to compensate the CO2 emission through a project managed by carbonfootprint.com.

Alternatively, you may compensate the CO2 emissions separately through atmosfair.com services or other similar organisations:

Tickets and prices for the public transport system in the Bratislava area

Public transportation in Bratislava is part of the integrated transport system called IDS BK. This system offers common tickets that are valid not only on urban transportation, but also on regional buses operated by Slovak Lines and regional trains (Os and REX trains) operated by Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko and RegioJet.

When using urban transportation, tickets must be purchased in advance. On-board purchase in only possible for holders of a chip card issued by one of participating operators or selected Slovak schools and universities with loaded credit.

Prices

The validity of tickets for a single journey is limited by time and by the number of travelled zones. You need to validate the ticket in the ticket validator inside the vehicle upon boarding the first vehicle (except for trains, where the validation machine is located on the station platform). The passenger can change without limit within the ticket validity and can combine the services of all operators of integrated transport in the Bratislava region without any restrictions. Passenger must not validate the ticket again when changing to another vehicle. The number of zones the ticket is valid for can not be exceeded.

Important note: Zone 100 counts for 2 zones, with the exception of journeys within the Bratislava (i.e. without travelling to or from regional zones), where the two-zone ticket can be used for travelling from zone 100 to zone 101 and vice versa. Basically, for journeys within Bratislava only the time validity of a single-journey ticket is taken into account. The zone validity of a single-journey ticket is significant for travelling to and from regional zones.

Validity Standard price
2 zones / 15 minutes 0,70 €
2 zones / 30 minutes 0,90 €
3 zones / 60 minutes 1,20 €

For more details, see the ticket price list.

Day tickets: instead of buying a ticket each time you travel you can buy a day ticket for 24h, 72h or 168h, depending on how long you stay in Bratislava.

The passenger with a day ticket can change without limit within the ticket validity and can also combine the services of all operators of Integrated transport in the Bratislava region without any restrictions. Day tickets need to be validated in the ticket validator inside the vehicle upon boarding the first vehicle (except for trains, where the validation machine is located on the station platform). Ticket must not be validated again when changing to another vehicle.

On weekends and public holidays, day tickets can be used for transportation of a group with children. One ticket is valid for up to two adults and three children (up to and including 15 years old). The group must include at least one adult and one child (it is not allowed to use one ticket for two adults without children, or more children without an adult).

Validity Standard price
24 hours / 100+101 (Bratislava) 3,50€
24 hours / all zones 6,90 €

Note: a discount of around 10 % is applied in the case of electronic wallet payment (a ticket for 168 hours is not available for purchase via electronic wallet).

Details on costs for the city passes and maps of the zones are available from the ticket price list.
